a week @ pantai medical centre

well..
to get some exposure whether being a doctor suits me anot...how's a doctor's life is...etc...i joined a week hospital attachment programme at Pantai Medical Centre, Bangsar.
well...it was kinda FUN and a totally diff experience...
got to c lots thing i don c normally...
haha...
however...it was boring at times....as i'm on the programme alone..

DAY 1
i was placed in the emergency department...
it was seriously BORING..!!
not much patient...no critical cases which i expected to see...
sigh...
well....private hospital....wat to do..? lolx..
as there arent much patient...
the doctors are kinda free most of the time..
so...grabbed dis opportunity to talk to dem and noe more bout their life...

DAY 2
i was placed in the operation theatre..!! whee..!!
i witnessed quite a number of operations... XD
it was interesting..! something v don get to c normally...hehe..
witnessed operations like caesar, hand surgery, etc..
caesar is operation where baby is born through operation...
haha....cant forget the moment i heard the baby's cry..!
i was there to welcome a new life..! haha...

DAY 3
visited a few department..
got to see ppl doin haemodialysis....chemotherapy...
da patients are pityful...
some young man and even small kid suffering from kidney failure...
i pity dem alot la...
hav to b wid de machine 3 times a week and 4 hrs each....
besides..i also witnessed a gastroscopy..where a tube with a camera was stuff into the patient's oesophagus, heading towards the stomach...it was projected on a monitor...this is done to check the patient's stomach...
pity the patient as well...as she coughed non-stop...
imagine if something is stuffed into ur throat..! XD

DAY 4
haaha...i went mortuary..!
the place where dead bodies are placed temporarily..
haha...
however....there wasnt any body when i visited.. XD
so...i was there for around 15 minutes only...( nothing to c )...
hahaa..
den...i was placed in operation theatre again...
here i witnessed a surgery...
a woman wanted to cut off her ovary,cyst and uterus...
aww....i saw bloody organs..! XD
it was...a bit disgusting...=(
haahaa...pretty good experience...!!
and datz wat i hav to c next time if i take medical course...
hmmmmm.....=/

DAY 5
visited imaging department...
got to see how X-ray is taken..how CT scan is carried out...
and ultrasound...i see de shape of the baby..!!
haha..
saw angiogram as well...
nothing much in this department laa..

conclusion...
well...i find this job interesting...
talked to lots doctors...and every doctor told me de same thing..
it's not difficult to become a doctor...
it's jz a loooong looong path to go..
but de doctors told me bout sacrification being a doctor as well... such as
when u r on call that day...u cant step out of the hospital at all..
sometimes u mayb on call for 36 hours or more continuously...
so...dat was a bit disencouraging laa..
aikxx...still cannot make decision yet..
will c how after A-levels laa..
haha
neeways...special thanks to cik rugayah...the person who placed me here and there and made sure i learn something..XD
